PRAIRIE VIEW MUNICIPALITY UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE PLANNING ACT NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT

On the date and at the time and location shown below, a PUBLIC HEARING will be held to receive representations from any persons who wish to make them in respect to the following matter:

PRAIRIE VIEW MUNICIPALITY BY-LAW NO. 2026-08 being an AMENDMENT to the PRAIRIE VIEW MUNICIPALITY ZONING BY-LAW NO. 2018-15, as amended.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Q: What is the main objective of the hearing?

A: The objective of the hearing is to provide information to Council to assist in the decision-making process.

 

Q: What happens at a hearing?

A: All those in attendance will sign in so they can be notified of the results of hearing and indicate if they wish to speak.

When the hearing is opened, the Chairperson will ask the applicant to speak about their application. Council may ask questions. The Chairperson will then ask if anyone would like to speak for or against the application. Each person registered to speak will be allowed to state their position and points supporting their position. Written representations are read aloud. All questions are to be directed through the Chairperson. Council may ask more questions based on information brought forth. If the Council has questions or requires information that is not available during the hearing, they can postpone the hearing until the answers/information can be presented at a continuance of the hearing. Only those in attendance or who have provided written representation, will be notified of the continuance hearing date/time.

Once the hearing is closed, there are no further chances for anyone to speak to the Council on this matter, or for Council to ask more questions or gather more data. Council will then vote on the matter during a duly assembled Council meeting.

 

Q: Do I have to attend the hearing?

A: Your attendance at the Public Hearing is welcomed; however, you are not required to attend. The applicant should attend the meeting to present their proposal and answer questions. If available, you may be allowed to attend via video conference. Request login credentials with your municipal office.

 

Q: What if I have objections?

A: Objections can be raised in person / video conference at the public hearing or by having written representation as outlined below.

 

Q: What if I have something to say but cannot attend the hearing?

A: You may submit written comments to the Mid-West Planning District office at least one week before the date of the hearing.

Q: Decision of Council for By-Law Adoption and Amendments?

A: After the hearing and consideration of the matter, Council shall do one of the following in during a Council meeting:

  • conduct second reading of the by-law; or
  • resolve not to adopt the zoning by-law or amendment.
